James W. Morris 1931-2011STREATOR — James W. Morris, 79, of Streator, passed away at 6:35 p.m. Monday, March 14, at St. Mary's Hospital, Streator.
Private family funeral services will be at a later date. Cremation rites have been accorded.Solon-Telford Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Born June 10, 1931, in Streator, he was the son of Harry and Margaret (Junger) Morris. He married Andrea Lilja on May 14, 1960, in Streator. She survives in Streator.
He is survived by sons, Jim Morris of Streator and Jerome daughter-in-law (Debbie Lynn) Morris of Greenwood, Ind.;X daughter-in-law, Debbie Morris of Streator; granddaughter, Alyssa Morris of Streator; brother, Lester (Barb) Morris of Streator; and a lifelong friend and neighbor, Roy "Ed" Wickers of Streator.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Born and raised in Streator, he attended Streator schools. He served in the U.S. Army for 25 years. He specialized in aviation. He also served in the Illinois National Guard for five years.
He worked in the parts department for P & A Auto Parts.
Through the years he worked on the Vietnam Memorial in the city park. He volunteered for the Streator Civil Defense Emergency Management Team for many years and for Foodshare.
Jim enjoyed building wood ornaments.
Memorials may be directed to the activities department at Parker Rehabilitation Center.
