Since the beginning of the TV show "Ghost Hunters" a great amount of locations across the US have been deemed haunted by one group or the other.
These locations have been investigated by thousands of people in that time. Over all very few investigations have produced anything remarkable. In most cases a few orbs, mists, the ever popular "feelings" and class "z" evp are all anyone ever shows of such investigations. If that is all a person expects out of paranormal activity then likely such a person is easily amused.
I have seen very little evidence that would make me take the trip to see for myself. I think the bulk of it is people are going to experience what they want to experience whether it is genuine or not.
These places have become tourist traps and the only thing haunting about them is the price you have to pay to get in the door. I've got better evidence in a simple cemetary then I've seen come out of these over sensationalized places on TV.
In fact, many of the people I've seen blog about such places said that they had fun but didn't get anything. So how haunted are these places really? This had lead to the famous yet silly phrase "I didn't find a thing but THAT DOESN'T mean its not haunted.
So now we've moved into a state of mind that says everywhere is haunted until proven not to be. It should be the other way around if anyone were to ask me.
I'd be willing to bet that I could take an old creepy building that I know beyond any doubt isn't haunted and I could create a story of the buildings ghosts and hauntings and 95% of the teams who visited would tell me its haunted. In fact I'm almost half tempted to do such a thing just to prove my point.
I realize people would see that as dishonest. However I think it would show very clearly the teams that shouldn't be engaged in such activities. It would show the teams out there that are willing to say anything to be cool.
